Do I have enough auto insurance?

Posted on Mar, 28 2009

Sometimes the driver who is at fault in an auto wreck is underinsured.  This means that the amount of liability insurance that the at fault driver is carrying is not sufficient to pay for your medical bills, disability, pain and suffering, and lost wages.  This can be particularly so when someone has been killed in the wreck.  When this happens you need a lawyer to explore all possible sources of compensation.  First, the lawyer will determine, for sure, what the limits of the liability coverage are for the at fault driver.  The at fault driver may have been driving someone else's car or was on the job at the time of the wreck.  This could result in additional insurance coverage.  Your own auto insurance may also provide additional coverage through your under-insured motorist coverage.  How much coverage you have depends on what type and extent of coverage you took out for yourself.  Again, a persistent lawyer will be able to get to the bottom of this coverage, and will be able to advise you as to which coverages are available and the order in which they will pay. This area of insurance coverage is a sub-specialty in the law and you should find an experienced Georgia auto accident lawyer to find the answers.
